The response we received from Cliff Wallington's article in the Spring Newsletter was a little disappointing. However, it is early days for this project but at least we have made a start. Cliff is now actively engaged in putting on file, on behalf of the Association, a list of Members who have all confirmed that they agree to their e-mail addresses being published in all future OMA Newsletters.
Our opinion is similar to Cliff's, that there are probably many more OM's who have access to a Computer Terminal but who would not be able to receive electronic mail from outside sources. However, we have now heard from Tony Woolven, Nina Linn (nee Oughton),
Mike Pleming, John Brogden and a few more.
Cliff is preparing a Homepage on behalf of the Association which, when finalised, will be offered to the Committee for their full approval before publication. The OMA Committee has agreed that Cliff should take up full "ownership" of this project and that any odifications and alterations needed to the Homepage project will be only finalised with the total approval of the OMA Committee.
Some food for thought........................
The first is that the publication of a OMA Homepage on the Internet will not cost the Association a single penny.
Secondly, it will provide another means of contact by other OM's who may have lost contact with the Association over the years and do not know who or how to renew contact with the Association. Our Homepage will confirm the existence of the Association and provide a contact name and address of a Committee Member.
Since Cliff Wallington has volunteered to work on behalf of the
Membership with this project, we believe we should provide as much support as possible to the general objectives of the project and report back through Committee Members any additional information, which may be useful in ensuring that this project is successful.
Thankyou Cliff.
